Established in 1891, the OB Club is one of the oldest Old Boys clubs in the UK. It started life as a networking club for former students of Bedford School and today the Club continues to provide an invaluable link between generations of fellow Old Bedfordians and with the School, through an annual programme of social, sporting and networking events and reunions. The Club is a world-wide organisation of some 8,500 members .
In the UK the Club is divided into 17 districts each with its own District Vice President (DVP) who is available to give advice and make introductions. There are currently 36 DVPs or Club contacts around the world and we are always looking for further volunteers to step forward. The DVP network is in addition to our network of OB sports representatives and our fledgling university and business networking representatives.
At the end of a boy's school career at Bedford, he is automatically eligible to become a member of the OB Club provided the Club's entrance fee has been paid. New members are normally voted in at the Club's AGM in July. Once elected OB Club members receive the Club tie and are entitled to wear the OB colours. They are also included in the OB Directory of members and can register online to access the full database of fellow OB Club members. The current OB Club entrance fee is £450 and is collected in equal instalments during boys' careers in the senior school.
The OB Club works closely with the School under the umbrella organisation of the Bedford School Association.
The OB Club and Bedford School Association (BSA) are pleased to announce the launch of this new website, CONNECT. This new online resource has been specifically designed to keep all members of the School community up to date with news and developments, as well as to provide a secure OB Club members only area. The new OB Club members area has been developed to make it easier for OBs to stay in touch with one another, to track down old friends and provide the opportunity to network and share business opportunities.
The new website offers OBs a greater range of benefits, including the facility for registered Club members to browse the comprehensive OB Directory of members, and the new OB professional directory. Members will also be able to view, register and pay for Club events online among many other new helpful features.
Subscribing Members of the OB Club are also invited to visit the School heritage site, a searchable online archive of the Ousel. If you are a Subscribing Member and don't have a login, this can be requested on the heritage site's homepage.
